​Green Group Chairman Volker Beckers Awarded CBE for Services to Nuclear Energy

The Green Group is proud to announce that its Chairman, Volker Beckers, has been awarded an honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) on Thursday 29th August by His Majesty The King (Charles III), for his outstanding contributions to Nuclear Energy.

Volker Beckers has been a pivotal figure in the green economy, bringing over 30 years of international leadership experience within the energy industry to his current role. As the Chairman of Green Group (Partners), which includes Green Executives and the Green Recruitment Company, Volker has played an instrumental role in advancing talent solutions tailored to the needs of the green economy.

After graduating from Cologne University in Economics & Business Administration, Volker began his career in the tech sector before transitioning into the energy industry, where he notably served as Group CFO and later Group CEO for RWE npower for over a decade until 2012. His strategic vision and leadership have been key to driving forward numerous initiatives aimed at achieving a sustainable future.

In addition to his role at Green Group, Volker holds various positions as a non-executive director and chair across a portfolio of private companies, as well as government bodies, including the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) Board where he served until autumn 2022. He also contributes to academia as a guest lecturer at Imperial College London and served as Chair of the Advisory Board at the Erasmus Centre for Future Energy Business at Rotterdam School of Management. In 2019, Volker was appointed Chairman of the Advisory Group of ewi – the Energy Institute of the University of Cologne.
